Eyes open when choosing clothes!

Some of my friends may now roll their eyes, because I always look with a critical eye on their Zara, H&M or SHEIN orders and can not deny myself the one or other nasty comment. But it is important to be aware of what you buy and thus also consume.

Cheap clothes at the expense of the environment

Clothes are currently cheaper than ever and promote environmental pollution all around. From production to disposal and not only nature suffers, but also humans & animals.

Did you know that the textile industry produces more emissions in one year than all international flights and shipping combined? How cool is that?

Each of your garments is a true marathon runner. A product from Asia, has often visited several countries and covers a distance that goes 1.5 times around the world. How does it work? Cotton grown in India, knitted in Morocco, dyed in Bangladesh... you get what I mean. So "Made in..." is not just about one country.

More than 90% of the clothing comes from the Asian region and causes massive environmental damage, especially locally. 2/3 of the waters are considered polluted. Chemicals from the factories are often discharged unfiltered and then later exchange in our drinking water or in our food.

And there are so many more downsides to the textile industry that I'd like to educate you about in the future.

5 reasons why you should buy sustainable/fair fashion

  1. Attention is paid to environmentally friendly cultivation. For example, environmentally harmful pesticides are not used.

  2. Attention is paid there to good working conditions, which means secure jobs, fair pay and a decent workplace.

  3. It's resource-friendly and many fair fashion companies rely on vegan clothing.

  4. They are more durable and more productive than cheap goods. Proper washing, of course, plays a role.

  5. Fair clothing is often much more expensive than cheap clothing, but one appreciates his clothes more and perhaps thinks twice about whether you necessarily put a second or third pair of jeans in the shopping cart. This is all good for our consumer behavior and helps to conserve resources.

So keep your eyes peeled for your next outfit choice!
